About Susan Faerber:
Director of the Healing Foods Kitchen at the
Moores/UCSD Cancer Center/Director
of the WHEL Study, a randomized trial testing the effectiveness of diet
on
breast cancer recurrence. Ms.
Faerber has been involved with diet and cancer research since 1993. As
director of the WHEL Study, she was intimately
involved with designing cooking classes and patient nutrition
information. Ms. Faerber
has been conducting Healthy Eating Classes at the UCSD Healing Foods
Kitchen
for over three years. She believes
that food nourishes the body and nurtures the spirit. Recognizing that
food is essential for health and healing,
she focuses on foods rich in natural color and flavor, along with
practical
suggestions for integrating these protective foods into usual daily
fare. Her emphasis is on food preparation
tips that save time and energy, while maximizing nutrition, taste, and
eye
appeal.
